Our Story
The story of The Scotty Van Horn Band began in 2023, when Scotty Van Horn was building a live presence around his music as a solo artist.
In January 2023, Scotty released his debut album, Life Is Like a Dream. To celebrate the release, he organized an album release party featuring a live performance of the album with a nine-piece band.
Among the musicians was Scotty’s coworker and friend, Archie La Salle. Archie was already an experienced drummer, but with another drummer filling that role for the performance, Scotty invited him to play percussion.
Later that year, Scotty and Archie provided music for a Confirmation retreat for Corpus Christi Catholic Church, held in Big Bear. It was there that they met guitarist Jakob Kachirisky for the first time. With Scotty and Jakob both playing guitar, the group needed a bass player. Jakob, primarily a guitarist, picked up the bass for the retreat, and the three musicians performed together for the first time.
Throughout the rest of 2023, Scotty continued performing with ensembles of musicians at various events, with Archie and Jakob becoming regular collaborators. By the end of the year, the three had begun discussing the possibility of formally establishing themselves as a trio.
